The second meeting between the researchers taking part in the 2021-2022 edition of the Research to Strengthen the Culture of Knowledge Programme entitled “A Decade of Arts.” During the meeting, the research proposals submitted by participants were discussed, in the presence of research supervisor Dr Marianne Noujeim, partners at the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) and the Arab Council for Social Sciences (ACSS), as well as members of the jury, including researcher and author Toufiq Khoury, university professor Hanan Kassab Hassan, and author and historian Farouq Mardam Beik.
The meeting offered a space for convergence and discussion of the themes tackled by the research paper. It also enabled participants to share their perspectives, experiences, and knowledge pertaining to their field of research and to pose questions. The meeting also included focus group discussions on the main questions related to research work in general, such as those pertaining to curricula, references, correlations with associated knowledge and intellectual contexts, and the criticism of artistic practices in the Syrian and Arab contexts.
The researchers will continue working on their papers until fall 2022, after which they will be provided with opportunities to publish and discuss these papers, to be announced in the second half of 2022. A Decade of Arts is supported by Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), the Arab Council for Social Sciences (ACSS), Mimeta, and the Ford Foundation.
