Internship Opportunities in the Launching of MAHARAT, Apply Now!

Ettijahat Independent-Culture is announcing opportunities for an internship to interested and qualified individuals with an artistic background, residing in Lebanon, who are willing to begin careers in the performing arts sector or even in the technical sector deriving from it. This internship falls within the context of launching a new programme entitled MAHARAT: Building Careers in Performing Arts, in partnership with Drosos Foundation.


MAHARAT: Building Careers in Performing Arts.

MAHARAT, will give young people the opportunity to begin careers in production arts and provide resources for everyone in the field to broaden their education and experience and connect more with their peers. The programme consists of three primary components. The first component is a one-year production art training programme for twenty-six young people per year. The second component is a free online library of production arts resources available entirely in Arabic. The third component is an online job platform that links professionals in production arts with their peers and employers in the independent and commercial arts, culture, and entertainment sectors.

Is a cultural organization that seeks to activate and render the role of independent culture and arts more positive in the process of cultural and social change. Ettijahat tries to achieve this by supporting artists and undertakers of cultural initiatives, enabling young researchers, working to build consensus and alliances between individuals and cultural institutions, promoting the arts and artists through regional and international platforms, and helping communities wherever they are to have access to culture and arts.

Drosos Foundation

Is committed to enabling disadvantaged people to live a life of dignity. Together with partner organizations, it develops and supports projects that have a direct bearing on the effective and sustainable improvement of living conditions, and seeks, wherever it is involved, a long-term impact. Drosos Foundation focuses on the development of life skills of disadvantaged children, young people and young adults through promoting creativity and economic independence. It is convinced that life and technical skills are key elements in personal development as they empower individuals to take control of their lives and make a positive contribution within their community. Drosos Foundation was established in Switzerland in 2003. It owes its existence to a private endowment and is acknowledged as a non-profit organization. It is ideologically, politically and religiously independent. The Foundation is active in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia as well as in Switzerland and in the eastern parts of Germany.


  • Applicants can be juniors, seniors or recent graduates
  • Applicants can be majoring in: Theater, Visual Arts, Communication Arts, Radio TV, Journalism, Statistics, advertising, planning, and management
  • Candidates must have a good level of English
  • Candidates must have a minimum of computer skills, especially in MS Word and Excel
  • Candidates must be responsible, enthusiastic, and team players


  • To assist the experts contributing to developing the program’s components and in the design of the curriculum
  • To research pertinent resources that will serve in developing the different components of the program  
  • To contribute in the needs assessment activities related to the performing arts sector in Lebanon, to identify its most important needs, covering different regions and cities in Lebanon through surveys and interviews and to assist in organizing the various activities of the program

Period of internship

Starting November 2019 until March 2020.
